It’s not easy to open a business in Denver—anyone who’s dealt with inspections knows how much of a headache they can be. Sure, the delay was frustrating, but honestly, this gym was worth the wait.

The space is massive, with plenty of equipment and room to move. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they’ve packed in a ton of amenities: hydro massage beds, red light therapy, personal training, and separate rooms for yoga, Pilates, and cycling. Even the Olympic benches come with an incredible view.

I’m excited to see this place thrive—it’s a great addition to the community!

Finally, there’s a good gym in downtown Denver. Prior to this you had hole in the walls that would be overly crammed during peak hours. Or you had a place like Colorado Athletic Club that had the space but looked like it hadn’t seen a major upgrade equipment or decor wise since close to the early 2000’s.

This gym is a palace. And everything is new and clean and it’s not overcrowded. There’s so much stuff there, at first, It’s kind of hard not to get lost.

If you’re at Colorado Athletic Club now, I’d definitely take a tour here because chances are this place will sell you on first sight. That’s what it did with me. I needed 30 seconds on the gym floor to be sold.

Thank god! There’s finally a gym in Denver where you get what you pay for. Moving to Denver was a bit of a shock in terms of the lack of quality gyms, (esp if you’re not into CrossFit) I spent 3 years working out at the CAC, and was happy until they closed Union Station— well, happy-ish. I actually started feeling resentful and taken advantage of by their total lack of quality. They have awful hours, and they have the audacity to charge you 150 a month for a musty, run down space in the Tabor center. Not to mention the nightmare of dealing with their membership and billing foolishness ( the only plus was the local staff was always kind) . Really really happy with The Athletic Club so far, beautiful space, better hours, and I’m paying 50 dollars less a month than I was at the CAC, which really should be charging 24 Hour Fitness prices. Fingers crossed that The Athletic Club is as fantastic a space to workout a year from now as it is today. But so far, absolutely loving it

I recently joined after moving to the Cap Hill area. This is the best gym in the city for the price. After being an Anytime Fitness member for a year, it is only $30 more for way more amenities and equipment.

The gym is rarely busy and has excellent specialty strength training equipment. All the staff are super friendly. I also love that it's month-to-month. They are dedicated to keeping your business, not locking you in a contract, and never following up.

Only downside is paid parking.

Lori the “manager” & my eval of TAC.

Their business practice is of low integrity. I went in there specifically detailing I was only intending to do a trial month, thus spending $100 for the sign up and $100 for the first month to trial. This is fine. But, after attempting to cancel after 1 month, they informed me there’s a cancellation fee and an extra month they must charge.

It’s incredibly disingenuous to not disclose this to someone clearly stating their intentions of trialing the location for a only single month, I could have also simply paid for day passes instead of spending $325 for a single month and 2 workouts. Employees should have advised this route instead of advising to actually sign up.

Lori refused this logic. Which i understand she follows a rule she doesn’t bend. I am here to share that experience.

Now for the actual facility itself, the placement of the machines simply doesn’t flow. I would advise folks to pay for a day pass and NOT sign up while trialing it. The layout is far inferior to other comparable gyms.

I joined prior to the gym opening which was not a good experience. They were two months late opening, which was not a huge deal, just as they have a 30-day cancelation policy, my previous gym did as well. This unknown opening day caused me to carry two gym memberships, but they would not both honor the “founding membership” pricing and delay it 30 days. As a result, I had to pay two memberships for a month. When the gym opened, the HVAC was not balanced causing some areas to be hot and others to be cold, stairwells were still being painted and had unfinished parts of the walls. I made a Personal Training appointment, but the Trainer quit or was let go between scheduling my appointment and my actual appointment and was not called to reschedule. I am not sure if the cable stacks were not set up correctly or just a bad piece of equipment but doing an overhead triceps extension, the machine came off its pully suddenly causing me to smack the back of my head with an ez bar. In fairness, I assume some of the growing pains mentioned above will be addressed soon.

General Observations: Nice gym, in my opinion not worth the cost. If you don’t live or work downtown, you will need to pay for parking every visit except Sundays. For me that translates to an extra $100 a month. The gym only has a couple of unique machines, otherwise the exact same Matrix Machine models are available at Planet Fitness for $15 a month and there are multiples of the same machine. Recovery is nice, but nothing special, again if you pay the $30 at PF you have access to the same. During busy times, machines are full, but there are tons of racks. If you take instructor led exercise classes the gym might have some benefit, but the schedule is limited for those, so I have been unable to take advantage. In my opinion this gym does not have the amenities or equipment that other gyms at a similar price point have.

Pros: clean showers and locker rooms, a few great pieces of specialized equipment, paid parking around the gym is plentiful, and the staff members at the gym are all very nice. Talia is really great! Amazing personal trainer. If I was not moving offices she would be worth staying for.

Cons: Tiniest stretching area on workout floor, not a huge selection of machines (only one shoulder press machine, chest supported row, and chest fly machine), dumbbells only in increments of 5 pounds, cardio is in the same giant room as weights and it is too warm, no fans on the workout floor, loud, distracting, guided HIIT class on the workout floor at prime time, need two different apps to get in at the gym’s front door, no lotion in the locker rooms, very limited benches in the locker area, if more than three people are in the same locker bank there is no where to sit to put on shoes, too few yoga classes, charge $25 if you cancel in the first three months, last Saturday there were three people with tripods filming their workouts at the same time, you could not avoid being in their shots, and lastly no free parking.

Pretty disappointing for everyone who signed up as a “flagship member” in August being told the gym would open at the end of September. It is now the start of January and no update on a grand opening date .. I put in my 30 day notice with my other gym in time so I wouldn’t be charged for 2 gyms.. now I’m caught in limbo and without a gym to use (for 3 months and counting) while I wait for your facility to open. I’ve heard a variety of reasons for the delay ranging from blaming the city for “permitting delays” to “snow delays” but upon touring the facility in November I could see the facility was still under construction and a long ways from being able to open - and the grand opening date keeps getting pushed back.
